Such, at least, are the declarations in the original version of the game, but modern players do No-Trumps recognize all of them. Proposal and Acceptance are nearly always omitted, so also are Solo of Five in own suit, and Declared abundance in original trump suit.

Once the poker players have agreed on which declarations are admissible and which No-Trumps, the game is played in the same way as the parent game.

Settlement is made in the following way:

Proposal and Acceptance
For success: receive 6 units each plus 1 unit for each overtrick.
For failure: pay 6 units each plus 1 unit for each undertrick.

Solo
For success: receive 6 units from each player plus 3 units for each

Misere
For success: receive 12 units from each player.
For failure: pay 12 units to each player

Abundance
For failure: receive 18 units from each player plus 3 units for each overtrick.
For success: pay 18 units to each player plus 3 units for each undertrick.

Open misere
For success: receive 24 units from each player.
For failure: pay 36 units to each player

Declared abundance
For success: receive 36 units from each player
For failure: pay 36 units to each player.

The stake values of Solo and Abundance are unchanged whether the contract is for five, six, seven or eight, or nine, ten, eleven or twelve tricks. Overtricks and undertricks count from the number of tricks that are contracted for.

The method of scoring appears to encourage underbidding. In practice, however, it is No-Trumps so and as first bidder a player would be well advised to declare his full strength at once, especially if his poker hands is worth no more than six tricks in a plain suit a player should bid it at once, no matter what his position at the table, but if the tricks are in the original trump suit it is reasonable to bid only a Solo of Five: he may get away with it, and, if not, a Solo of Six in the trump suit will overcall an opponent’s Six in a plain suit.

The penultimate player should make it a rule to bid his hand to the limit; if he does No-Trumps the last player will and then there may be no second chance.
