NAP. A declaration in Nap (oleon) to win all five tricks.

NATURAL CANASTA. In Canasta a meld of seven or more cards of which none is a wild card. cf MIXED CANASTA.

NON-COMOQUER. In Panguingue, a group of Kings or Aces.

NULL. In Skat, a contract to take no tricks.

NULLO. Same as MISERE q.v.

O

OMBRE. In Ombre, the player who plays against the other two players in partnership against him.

ORDER UP. In Euchre, the declaration of an opponent of the dealer accepting the suit of the turn-up card as the trump suit.

P

PAIR. (1) In Casino, the play of a card and taking up as a trick all the other cards of the same rank in the layout. (2) In Cribbage, playing a card of the same rank as the previous one played.

PAIR-ROYAL. (1) In Brag, three cards of equal rank. (2) In Cribbage, playing a third card of the same rank as a pair.

PAM. In Loo, the ♣ J.

PARTIE. In Piquet, a game.

PEDRO. cf LEFT PEDRO and RIGHT PEDRO.

PEG. In Cribbage, a marker used for scoring on a board.

PINOCLE. In Pinocle, the ♠ Q and ♦ J.

PITCH. In Auction Pitch, the opening lead that determines the trump suit.

PIQUE. In Piquet, the winning of 30 points in hand and play before an opponent scores. cf REPIQUE.

PLAIN SUIT. A suit other than the trump suit.

PLAYER. In Calabrasella and schafkopf, the player who elects to play on his own against the other two players.

POINT. In Piquet, the number of cards held in the longest suit.

POLIGNAC. In Polignac, the ♠ J.

POOL. The collective amount of players stakes and fines.

POPE. In Pope Joan, the ♦ 9.

POT. In Poker, a game in which all the players put up an ante.

PROPOSE. In Ecarte, a request by the non-dealer that cards may be exchanged for other from the stock.

PUESTA. In Ombre, ombre and one or both of his opponents winning the same number of tricks.

PUNTO. In Ombre, the Ace of whichever red suit is trumps.

QUART. In Piquet, sequence of four cards.

QUATORZE. In Piquet, any four cards of the same rank higher than the 9.

QUINT. (1) In Piquet, a sequence of five cards. (2) In Quinto, the 5 of every suit, and every pair of cards in a suit that totals five.

QUINT ROYAL. In Quinto, the Joker.
